The Initiative helps groups and individuals realise that renewable energy can form part of the regeneration of places - from remote rural areas to market towns, from farmed landscapes to villages, and even cities and their edges.

With the aid of Local Support Teams, the Initiative could lead to environmentally sensitive developments of:

• solar roofs


• electricity and heating schemes from wood fuel


• farm waste schemes


• wind turbines (especially small and medium)


• hydro electric power schemes

In places like:

• schools


• hospitals


• offices


• shops


• farms


• community halls


• housing developments

Bringing benefits like:

• skills


• likelihoods


• income


• new uses for farmland


• energy efficient buildings


• better management of woods


• new educational opportunities
